Located on the bustling Wexford Street thoroughfare, next door to its famous sister venue Whelan’s, The Village incorporates a live music venue, late night bar, restaurant and nightclub. The building, designed by acclaimed architect Chris Jones of Atlantic Architects comprises over 1200m.sq of bars and entertainment space over three floors. Combining old and new, the refurbished brick, natural wood floors, comfortable leather seating and subtle lighting have been carefully chosen to create a warm setting and ambience.
The venue and club space holds a 650 capacity with the addition of a plush and intimate mezzanine balcony bar suitable for V.I.P guests, artist recreation and private parties. A recent investment of over €100k in a state of the art sound and lighting system has allowed for superb production facilities to rival the best venues in Europe.
The Balcony Bar
Now this really is a room with a view; the newly refurbished Balcony Bar has quickly become a favourite with corporate and private parties alike. Overlooking the busy dance floor and stage you get a real feel for the vibe in the club while enjoying the comfort of this plush private area. The Balcony Bar has the best selection of cocktails, champagne and premium spirits and our hostess is at hand to cater to your needs. You can book a table or reserve the Balcony Bar for your private party with up to 55 guests.
Outdoor Smoking Area
We have two new smoking areas. One an upsairs balcony with views overlooking the crowds passing by on wexford and camden street, perfect for a bit of people spotting. While the downstairs area is its own venue in right, the 180m2 covered area is heated and lit with spotlights, Music from the club is also fed through the speakers so you could easily end up out here all night!
Since opening in 2003 The Village has become established as one of Dublin’s premier live music and club venues, hosting such international names as Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Public Enemy, Interpol, Ray LaMontagne, Nightmares on Wax, Jose Gonzalez, Sufjan Stevens, The Magic Numbers, Badly Drawn Boy, Babyshambles, The Rapture, The Kooks, legends such as Jimmy Cliff, New York Dolls and the late Arthur Lee, and also has attracted visits from Tony Bennett, Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Wilson, Morrissey to name but a few. In addition to hosting excellent live music, The Village venue is also a multi-purpose space, catering for seminars, art exhibitions, trade fairs, product launches, social events and marketing functions.
